Whoo-hoo! Adrian Peterson! I miss watching him on Saturdays. It's nice to see him do so good in the NFL though.

I like Iowa. I've always kind of cheered for them since my mom was born at the U of I hospital. I spent most of my childhood in Iowa, too. But I was pretty happy to see my beloved D-II ( I flat out refuse to call the divisions by their new name) Northern Iowa Panthers nearly knock them off in the season opener!

hey hey HEY.

i've been a good girl. i deserve some damn cheesecake in two weeks. if cait withholds baked goods, then i suffer and that is something up with which i shall not put. ergo, therefore, and consequently, if there's no cheesecake in two weeks, well then, NFL Guy, IF THAT'S YOUR REAL NAME, i will hold you personally responsible! i will sneak into your room while you sleep and i will put your hand in warm water, and then when you pee the bed i will laugh and call you incontinent.

(and no, you won't see me coming because i'm black and blend into the night. i'm like a ninja panda but without the white parts.)

:D

(i'm loving the mae/ramy slapfight. two of my favorite people. two of the most stubborn people. i think this controversy should be settled with a good old fashioned duel. pistols at dawn!)

perhaps ramy is an iowa apologist because he can get gayly married there? i'm jus' sayin'.

mae, we're playing right into the bcs' hands...
arguing about things that don't matter.
at the end of the day iowa lost a game and key players and their season is over.

i took issue not with your viewpoints, but with your taunting "iowa = overrated clap clap clap clap", "bitch please" *makes go away hand gesture and rolls eyes*, and worst of all rooting for ohio state to beat them... why not hope for iowa to beat your sworn arch enemy and prove you wrong.

i don't believe any teams in the current top ten have really done anything to "prove" themselves as being worthy of their position. no one has played and defeated more than one team ranked in the BCS top 25, every team has played at least one or more close games against unranked opponents.

we don't really know which conference is the strongest, we can make claims all we want, or see who won the most bowl games, but that is all guessing based on one game who would beat other teams in other games...

iowa has been unanimously ranked as having one of the toughest SOS of any team this season, a point which oddly has gone unanswered.

whether you or i were right about how good that iowa team was with all its starters will never be answered.

whether you or i are right about how good any of the teams in the top 10 are, will never be answered.

what will happen, is florida or alabama will play one good team from another conference in the championship game. whether they would have beat any other contenders, we'll never know.

how they would have fared in a different conference, playing other teams, we'll never know.

the fact that none of these teams have answered Boise State's challenge to travel and play any top 10 team on their home field anytime in the next 5 years as their nonconference game, is very telling.

no one wants to play tough teams. you can make it to the bcs championship playing 1-AA teams for nonconference games, save your players for big games, and have people like you wave their banner saying they "would have" beaten anyone else if they played them because they put up big numbers against high school teams.

kudos to teams i hate, like ohio state, usc, oklahoma and iowa for scheduling tough nonconference games, against ranked opponents and getting beat up and losing good players in the process.

we don't have to agree about the caliber of this iowa team. we CAN however, agree that we can't know how good that team was or how good any team is, until we have a different system to evaluate them.

one that involves them all playing each other. there are only 12 games in the season. they should all count for something and demonstrate their ability as a contender, or prove their place in the rankings. as it stands, there are usually only 2 or 3. that's a waste of 3/4 of the season.

the reason we both sound like immature children when we have these discussions is because we are arguing in a paradigm that doesn't allow for reasonable discourse on the subject matter. we have to attempt to extrapolate conclusions about worthiness based on insufficient data. period.

let's leave it at that, shall we?

Dave, I'm ass-yuming you still want your pecan pie cheesecake in two weeks?

::hard stare::

(I find that threatening to withhold baked goods is highly effective when it comes to any defense of UF.)

ramy, you need to recognize that i never once maliciously attacked iowa by saying "they suck" or the like. i never once maliciously attacked you either. it was you who ever so childishly said i sucked and called me an idiot. it's like you're putting your fingers in your ears and saying "la la la i can't heaaarrrr you!" because i'm pretty sure i've been saying that and what nfl guy said the past few weeks.
